The last June, at the high-level conference in Lisbon, European Institutions, EU governments and civil society have launched the European Platform on Combatting Homelessness to promote dialogue, mutual learning, debate, and strengthen the cooperation among all actors engaged in the field. The platform will be a core tool to shape a common understanding of homelessness and commitment to tackle it among the Member States. The participants at the high-level conference signed a declaration for the fight against homelessness. We are especially interested in the second objective of the declaration: “no one lives in emergency or transitional accommodation longer than is required for successful move-on to a permanent housing solution“. One of the HOOD pillars is early intervention indeed: we work to promote the importance of supporting people with housing solutions and intensive help in the very time they start experience homelessness.
